Jeanie Marie Buss was born in the US. Her current position is that as president of the Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. The California born Buss has been raised by an upper class family. Jerry Buss, her father was a businessman with a real estate business who later eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated as her parents divorced in 1972. She joined her family's business when she was 19 and became the general manager of the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. Later, she founded an organization called the Los Angeles Blades, a professional, roller-hockey club. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice President of the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and his control over ownership for the Lakers was passed on to Buss and her five siblings via a trust for the family which gave each sibling equal voting rights. Buss was elected president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss also co-owns Women of Wrestling, a professional wrestling promotion with headquarters within Los Angeles.
